My Mother’s cousin died in a road accident; coming in contact with a lorry while crossing the road today at 6 pm. He was like us planning for his future in the dunya. He was shopping to visit his motherland since he was working in the UAE for a few years. He was excited to meet his family back home and they were elated to welcome him. His mother was planning to get him married this time. But Allah had other plans for him. Yesterday he was among us and today he left us to start his life in al-barzakh (the interval between his death and the Day of Resurrection). My Mom is more disheartened than I am as she spent her childhood around them. He was in his youth. When my Mom first came to Saudi Arabia he used to write letters to my mom requesting her to send Saudi visa so he can come here. I am assuming he must be so young back then. Fast forward 10 years and he was working in the Emirati sand. I do remember them always playing around. They are 4 brothers and they have a house next to my grandpa’s place in the village. I remember when I was about 3 years old one of them used to give me mud wrapped in a candy wrapper and would say “Come on sing a poem I will give you this candy.” And I would fall for his trap every time. I would open the candy wrapper and there lay sand instead of sweet. 😣 They must be devastated by the news of their dear brother’s death. How many of us are pondering and working for the forthcoming years? O slaves of Allah time isn’t guranteed to any mortal soul.To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. The question is are we prepared to meet our Creator?
“Verily, you (O Muhammad) will die, and verily, they (too) will die”
And Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving thing)”
[Aal ‘Imraan 3:185]
And the poet said:
Every son of a female, no matter how long he lives,
Will one day be carried on the bier.
Death is nothing but the decree of Allaah which the son of Adam has no way of warding off or avoiding. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Say (O Muhammad ): ‘I have no power over any harm or profit to myself except what Allaah may will. For every Ummah, there is a term appointed; when their term comes, neither can they delay it nor can they advance it an hour (or a moment)’”
“Wheresoever you may be, death will overtake you even if you are in fortresses built up strong and high”
