I have just finished reading The Creed of the People of The Sunnah and Congregation by Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih Al-Uthaymin. I learned about the who are the best among the Messegners and that this nation is the best of all nations and most honorable to Allaah.
You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and believe in Allah. If only the People of the Scripture had believed, it would have been better for them. Among them are believers, but most of them are defiantly disobedient. [3:110]
We should ask Allaah to put love in our heart for the salafs (the righteous predecessors) who are the companions of the Prophet Muhammad sall Allaahu alayhi wa sallam, then their followers, and then their followers. The companions are better than any of us.
……Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest [of Makkah] and fought [and those who did so after it]. Those are greater in degree than they who spent afterwards and fought. But to all Allah has promised the best [reward]. And Allah, with what you do, is Acquainted. [57:10]
And [there is a share for] those who came after them, saying, “Our Lord, forgive us and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind and Merciful.” [59:10]
Each good deed on the Day of Judgement will be multiplied by ten times.
Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have ten times the like thereof [to his credit], and whoever comes with an evil deed will not be recompensed except the like thereof; and they will not be wronged. [6:160]
Blessed are the people who will receive their record in their right hand and doomed are those who will receive their record behind their back.
Qadr (Divine Decree) has four levels which are:
- Knowledge: We believe that Allaah, the Exalted is ever knowing of all things.
- Writing: We believe that Allaah, the Exalted, wrote in the Preserved Tablet whatever will occur until the Day of Resurrection.
Do you not know that Allah knows what is in the heaven and earth? Indeed, that is in a Record. Indeed that, for Allah, is easy. Will: We believe that Allaah, the Exalted, Willed all that is in the Heavens and the Earth. [22:70]
- Will: We believe that Allaah, the Exalted, Willed all that is in the Heavens and Earth.
d. Creation: Allaah the Exalted said:
Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is, over all things, Disposer of affairs. [39:62]
The proof that the slave’s action is by his choice and ability are: Your wives are a place of sowing of seed for you, so come to your place of cultivation however you wish and put forth [righteousness] for yourselves. And fear Allah and know that you will meet Him. And give good tidings to the believers. [2:223]
And if they had intended to go forth, they would have prepared for it [some] preparation. But Allah disliked their being sent, so He kept them back, and they were told, “Remain [behind] with those who remain.” [9:46]
The saying of the Prophet Muhammad sall Allaahu alayhi wa sallam, when the people were raising their voices in prayer, ” Be gentle upon yourselves. You are not calling on one who is deaf or absent; verily, you are calling One Who is Ever-hearing, Ever-close. And He is with you.” [Al- Bukhari]
How magic came to this world: And they followed [instead] what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomon who disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. But the two angels do not teach anyone unless they say, “We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by practicing magic].” And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause separation between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it except by permission of Allah. And the people learn what harms them and does not benefit them. But the Children of Israel certainly knew that whoever purchased the magic would not have in the Hereafter any share. And wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew. [2:102]
Made their deeds fruitless because:That is because they disliked what Allah revealed, so He rendered worthless their deeds. [47:9]
That is because they followed what angered Allah and disliked [what earns] His pleasure, so He rendered worthless their deeds. [47:28]
We believe in the sirat (path) and we believe in the hawd (basin) which is for Muhammad sall Allaahu alayhi wa sallam.
I have summarised only a part of what I have learned from this book. Please note that you need to read the entire book to understand the ayat and other statements that I have mentioned above.
Overall this book is for the beginner student of knowledge and all those who want to refresh their creed to walk on the right path. The ayat and the hadith are highlighted in bold so that you may understand.
