The Shaykh mentioned the story about two companions. One of the companions who died in jihad and the companion who died later after a year. The companion who died later after a year because he witnessed another Ramadhaan he entered Jannah first because he fasted Ramadhaan that year and that he prostrated to Allaah throughout the year after his companion (in jihad) died. The Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu alyhi wa sallam said “Verily the distance between them two due to this is like the distance between the heavens and the earth.’’ The Shaykh says “Glad tidings to you to the one who is able to
meet this month. Glad tidings to you if you were able to establish the rights of this month.’’ Jibrael alayhi wa sallam made dua against those who witness the month of Ramadhaan and are not forgiven and the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam said Ameen to this dua “May he be placed far away who witnesses the month of Ramadhaan and is not forgiven.’’The eight gates of Jannah are open during Ramadhaan and there is not a single door except that is opened. The seven gates of hell fire are closed during Ramadhaan and there is not a single door from them except that is closed. In Ramadhaan the shayateen are imprisoned. Therefore all these are from the tremendous bounty, generosity and mercy of Allaah.
The Shaykh said “Hasten to doing these things and hasten to the causes of that will aid you in obeying and worshipping Allaah. Strive hard and excel in the night prayer and strive hard in doing good deeds which will make the scale of your good deeds heavy. So work hard O SERVANT OF ALLAAH to take full advantage of these occasions of good and to increase in righteous deeds because verily your life span is short and verily the time of your death and your appointed time is close. So by Allaah work hard in doing those things which will draw you closer to Allaah in the days and nights of Ramadan and follow the sunnah of Prophet sallallaahu alahyi wa sallam. Verily the Messenger of Allaah is an excellent example.”
