Fasting is for Allaah alone and He shall reward it. The fasting person will be happy twice as the Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam said when he breaks his fast and when he meets his Lord. “Whoever fasts Ramadhaan with sincere Eeman he will be forgiven.’’ None knows the full measure of the reward of fasting except Allaah. Another tremendous act of worship is standing in Qiyam al layl in Ramadhaan. “Whoever stands the nights of Ramadhaan in Salah out of Eeman and his anticipation of the reward then Allaah will forgive his previous sins.’’
So he starts preparing from now on for the month of Ramadhaan by making supplications to Allaah that he asks Allaah to give him the success and to stand in the nights of Ramadan (taraweeh etc) out of Eeman and out of anticipation of the reward and Allaah gives him the success of standing the night of Qadr: praying laylatul Qadr. The person should be sincere when making such duas. It is a must for him that he takes account of himself. The preparation of Ramadhaan should be made by making istighfar (forgiveness). Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam used to ask for forgiveness from Allaah 100 times a day. And to prepare for such a blessed month one should also start fasting the month of Shabaan as the Prophet Muhammad sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam used to fast the most of Shabaan.
